Atlanta Botox: What You Need To Know

PURE BLISS MED SPA /  NOVEMBER 1, 2021 / COSMETIC

Botox Cosmetics has become one of the most common and sought after non-surgical treatments. Anti-wrinkle treatments commonly consist of using Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. All of these products are FDA cleared, and have been proven to be effective. Botox has become increasing popular and typically the most common neuromodulator requested by clients.

All of these brands yield similar results. The efficacy of each product is totally based on preference and how each individual responds to the product. Botox and other anti-wrinkle treatments are such a common procedure because it temporarily softens unwanted expression lines and wrinkles without any additional invasive procedures. Botox is a simple, non-surgical relatively quick treatment.

Results are consistent and reliable but keep in mind that getting the results you want is based on choosing the right injector. Plenty of Atlanta practices offer Botox treatments and it can be overwhelming choosing which location to try. At Pure Bliss Med Spa, our nurse practitioner has advance training in Botox and other injectable services and has been certified in advanced aesthetics for 9 years. We only carry quality FDA approved products. We are highly attentive to detail and delivering safe and consistent results with each treatment.

Botox Cosmetics is overwhelmingly popular at our location and we believe non-surgical treatments are the best way to combat aging. Our injector believes that less is more when administering botox and dermal fillers. The goal is to look like the best version of yourself. Our aesthetic nurse practitioner recommends a dose that will leave you rejuvenated and refreshed without looking frozen or overdone.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox is classified as neurotoxin just like Dysport, and Xeomin. These products are neuromodulators and share the same active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A. Neurotoxins temporarily inhibit facial muscles by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles. Most dynamic wrinkles are caused by repeated facial contractions and movement of muscles.

Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscles cannot contract as strongly inhibiting these facial muscles from contracting prevents the lines and wrinkles from developing in the overlying skin. With relaxation of the facial muscles preexisting lines and wrinkles gradually smooth away.

Where Is Botox Used?

Botox is most commonly used in the face and can treat the upper face all the way to the neck.

We treat horizontal forehead lines that cause us to look worried or stressed. These lines become more apparent as we age. You typically see them start to develop in your late 20s or early 30s.

Glabellar lines are the vertical frown lines between the eye brows. These lines are caused by the bunching of the corrugator muscles. They mimic the “number 11” and their presence can make you look tired and angry.  Crow’s feet are around the corners of the eyes and start to show when you smile or squint, as we age those creases stay even when you’re not showing expression or smiling .

Botox is often used off label for bunny lines around the nose, dynamic neck lines, vertical upper lip lines known as the lipstick lines, dimpling or pebbling chin, and to lift the corners of the mouth. Botox is also used to reduce the masseter muscles and make the jawline slimmer . The TMJ joint is responsible for patients who grind their teeth at night which causes the muscle to become hypertrophied and enlarged. Injecting the masseter muscle with Botox will reduce the pressure of the masseter muscle and alleviate pain, discomfort and enlargement. Botox can also be meticulously placed in the muscle around the tail of you eyebrow to give lift and diminish hooding of the eyebrows.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

The price of Botox varies per person based on your individual needs, age, metabolism etc. The average cost per treatment area in the Atlanta area is around $200 per treatment area of the face. At Pure Bliss Med Spa we charge $11 per unit for Botox and we offer a monthly membership program where your Botox cost is reduced to $10 per unit. Our monthly membership charges you monthly for 10 units at $100. The units are banked and you can use them on your next treatment. We also partner with Allergan and provide savings and discounts through the Alle rewards system.

When Do You Start Botox?

Neuromodulators such as Botox or Dysport are best used as a preventative treatment, that is before dynamic lines and wrinkles have permanently set into the skin. This is typically late 20s or early 30s. Botox will inhibit the muscles contraction, weakening the muscle, smooth out lines and wrinkles and prevent further the aging.  Beginning treatment early will prevent permanent changes and aging lines to the face.

Botox Side Effects

The most common side effects of Botox are:

  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Undesired changes to facial features, such as a ptosis to the eye brows or droopy lids.

Other side effects include:

  • Headaches or pain at the injection site
  • Soreness
  • Forehead is heavy

When performed correctly, the medicine is not absorbed into the circulatory system or areas of the face that can cause these complications.

Combining Treatments

Our aesthetic nurse practitioner is an expert in Atlanta for injectable and anti-aging. Trained in all neuromodulators including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, &Jeuveau). Botox works magically for reducing lines and wrinkles but total face rejuvenation requires combining other treatments. Dermal Fillers can be used to combat volume loss, hydrate the skin, smooth out permanent lines and wrinkles and stimulate collagen production.

Microneedling and Laser Genesis treatments also smooth out the skin and creates more collagen. PRP or Plasma induction uses your own body’s plasma and growth factor to rejuvenate the skin. Your blood is centrifuged and the plasma is separated. The plasma is then injected into your face focusing on target area of aging skin.

What Is the Procedure of Injecting Botox?

Before your Botox treatment we encourage you to avoid blood thinning medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen for 3-4 days prior and avoid alcohol the night before. This will reduce your risk of bruising. On the day of your treatment, we provide you with a consent form for you to review followed by an after-care form.

To begin your treatment, we do a thorough consultation and come up with a treatment plan. We take photos to document your baseline. We then draw up the Botox, cleanse the area, and inject. The actual injection of the medication takes less than 5 min and is relatively painless. You will begin seeing results over 5-7 days after the treatment.

Before choosing an injector look into their expertise and experience. A skilled injector should specialize in non-surgical injections and provide these services often. Avoid practices that seldomly do injectable or their practitioner does not specialize in aesthetics.

Understanding the facial muscles, their depth and location is extremely important to achieve desirable results. Pure Bliss Med Spa is one of Atlanta’s most popular med spas for Botox and other injectable servicing the Sandy Springs area.
