Advanced Chemical Peels

After receiving an Advanced Chemical Peel, your skin becomes slightly more sensitive to sunlight for about two weeks post peel. This is the key reason chemical peels are safer during certain times of the year, Fall and Winter. The fall and winter months are when the weather is cooler, days are shorter, and the sun is not as intense as in the summer months. Also, doing an advanced chemical peel during the fall and winter seasons prepares you and your skin for all of the activities planned for the warmer months so that your recovery process is complete when that time comes.

Advanced Chemical Peels use highly concentrated solutions to break through the barrier of the skin and correct minor to major concerns. Advanced Peels range from mild to aggressive and have different depths from medium to deep. Unlike light peels that are used as deep exfoliation, advanced peels are more penetrative, going deeper into the layers of the skin. These peels also vary in percentage levels. The lower percentage, the more gentle and exfoliating, but as the percentage increases, so does the intensity of the peel.

If you suffer from Acne, Pitting Texture, Hyperpigmentation (red and brown spots), and Aging concerns, then an Advanced Peel is the perfect treatment for you this season.

Light Chemical Peels

Like Advanced Chemical Peels, light chemical peels are more beneficial when applied during the fall and winter months. Light chemical peels are a milder option when considering getting a chemical peel. Although they can normally be applied throughout all seasons, they can cause slight sun sensitivity to the skin. This is why it is also a great option for the upcoming season to help elevate your skin.

Light peels are very simple and easy treatments. These peel solutions are known to gently exfoliate the skin’s surface, dissolving dead skin cells that may be tougher to remove from your home care exfoliation. Although they do not result in peeling like the more advanced chemical peels, they can help healthy skin cells rise to the surface. This allows deep layers of new skin to be revealed. Normally there is little to no downtime, sometimes slight flaking, but the sensation you feel during the peel goes away minutes after the peel is removed. The result of consistent light chemical peel treatments can help to clear acne, improve fine lines and wrinkles, lighten hyperpigmentation, and give the skin a healthy glow.

Microneedling or PRP Treatments

Fall is the season for deep skin rejuvenation since there will be shorter days and less sun exposure. What better time than now to explore the benefits of microneedling and PRP Treatments? Microneedling is a treatment that creates thousands of tiny wounds on the skin’s surface, reaching the dermis. This result stimulates the body’s natural wound healing process, inducing collagen to help repair the wounded areas.

As the skin heals, the result is brighter, more supple, even, and smoother skin than before. PRP Treatments undergo the same process with the addition of pushing your very own plasma-rich platelets back into your skin with the microneedling pen.

Microneedling and PRP Treatments are great options for skin rejuvenation for the fall because the skin is left in a sensitive state once the treatment is done. Although there is little to no downtime, just slight redness or a flushed appearance for a day or two, you still want to be extremely cautious of your sun exposure post-procedure. This is why it is the perfect treatment for the Fall.

If you struggle with Enlarged Pores, Fine Lines and Wrinkles, Texture, or Acne Scarring concerns, then Microneedling or PRP is the treatment for you at Pure Bliss Med Spa in the Atlanta Area.

IPL Photofacial Treatments

IPL Photofacial, also known as Intense pulsed light, is a treatment that uses intense light to correct the skin. With intense pulse light energy being used, this treatment also causes the skin to become sensitive to the sun, a key reason why this is another perfect treatment option for the Fall season. Results of an IPL photofacial tend to be best when the skin is not exposed to a lot of direct sunlight. During the fall months, you may find it easier to remain indoors during the days before and after your treatment, which can greatly enhance your results.

IPL addresses certain skin damage, such as hyperpigmentation and redness from sun damage, rosacea, and other concerns, with little to no downtime. Intense Light energy is used during IPL to help reverse signs of aging and skin damage from normal environmental wear and tear. This treatment can also help reduce visible fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating the body’s collagen production. The wavelengths from the light energy target red and brown spots on the skin by heating the pigment, then lifting the unwanted pigmentation to the surface resulting in it peeling off on its own.

Laser Needling Treatments

Laser Needling is a corrective treatment that uses both Laser Genesis and Microneedling to help restore the skin’s complexion and overall texture. The combined treatments use similar approaches: to damage the skin’s surface to begin its natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This eventually leads to rejuvenated, youthful skin. This heat-based laser treatment and microneedling procedure require no downtime other than the face appearing red or pink making them a great pair.

Since Fall’s sun exposure is not as extreme as summers, laser treatments are a great option for the upcoming season. Especially for a treatment like Laser Needling, it’s combining two skin sensitizing procedures into one. Not spending as much time in the hot sun helps to speed up the healing process and ensures that your results last longer than anticipated. This treatment leaves you with glowing skin.

Laser Needling is better than the traditional microneedling treatment because it can treat multiple concerns like Post Inflammatory Erythema, Hyperpigmentation, Skin Pitting, Redness, Melasma, Sun Spots, Age Spots, and many more concerns. Laser Needling is accessible to anyone who wants healthier, happier skin.

Products For The Fall

Now that we’ve covered the best treatments for the Fall season, let’s get into skin care products. Of course, your skin’s advanced treatments in the spa are vital to correct any damage from the summer sun. But an essential key to continuing to see great results is ensuring that your at-home regimen suits you and the season to come. Due to the weather changes, your home care regimen must be refreshed for the fall. Here are five skincare products you may need to switch or add to your routine to help your skin look and feel its best this fall season and prep for winter.

Swap Your Cleanser

As you may know, cleansers are the first step in your skincare routine and a very important one. It is responsible for cleaning and prepping the skin for the following products. Therefore making sure that you are using the correct one is very imperative. Summer is always a great time to use slightly more aggressive cleansers to balance your over-productive oil glands due to the heat.

But in the cooler months, you’ll want to select a cleanser that is more gentle and moisturizing for the skin, like a pearl cleanser or cream. Be sure to look over any cleanser containing fragrances or other harmful additives. The skin’s sensitivity to certain ingredients can increase with the weather changing.

A few great options to choose from that are available at our location is the Pure Bliss Rx Antioxidant Cleanser, a very gentle pearl gel cleanser. Also, Skinceuticals Gentle Cleanser and Revisions Gentle Cleansing Lotion are both cream-based cleansers that help with moisture as the moisture in the air begins to decrease.

Use Chemical Exfoliators

Although exfoliating is only a part of our home care routine 1-3 times a week, depending on your skin type and needs, it doesn’t exclude it from being just as important as the rest of the steps. It is one of the most important. Regularly exfoliating helps to remove stubborn dead skin cells that normally block the pores, resulting in better product absorption and smoother skin, especially during the fall and winter seasons. Exfoliating at least once a week will help your skin maintain proper moisture levels while enhancing the efficacy of the following steps and product ingredients.

The most popularly used exfoliant is a physical scrub, which is great for the spring and summer months. But during the Fall and winter, chemical exfoliants are key. For one, the skin isn’t holding as much heat making it less sensitive and more receptive to aggressive (safe) ingredients. Also, Fall is a time to correct concerns, and chemical exfoliators gently do just that.

Great options are our Pure Bliss Rx Corrective Peel Pads, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid toning pads that help the skin’s texture and balance its oil production. The Skinmedica AHA/BHA Cream helps with hyperpigmentation concerns. Lastly, Revisions Brightening Cleanser is a gentle exfoliating cleanser that helps brighten the skin’s overall complexion.

Add Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid, also known as HA, is a great ingredient to use in your skincare routine all year. Its job is to help increase skin moisture and collagen production. With the air beginning to lack moisture because of the temperature drop, it is a very useful step to add to your routine during the cooler months. The harsh weather can dry the skin, decreasing hydration and oil. HA is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin. When applied, it absorbs water from the skin, helping guide it to places it lacks the most.

Our favorite at Pure Bliss Med Spa is Skinceuticals H.A. Intensifier, a highly concentrated Hyaluronic Acid that draws moisture even deeper than the average HA. This product can be bought at our Sandy Springs Atlanta location.

Switch Moisturizers

A Moisturizer catered to your skin type is always important to incorporate into your regime all year long, but the most critical time is Fall and Winter. As the air begins to crisp and the season changes, dry skin can become apparent. For Fall, you will want to switch to a heavier cream/oil-based moisturizer. This helps the skin create a lipid shield that maintains your natural sebum (oil) production and moisture barrier. Be sure to use a moisturizer that contains more oils day and night this season to help protect your moisture levels and achieve healthy glowing skin.

Our favorites at Pure Bliss med Spa is our own Pure Bliss Rx Restorative Moisturizer, a heavier moisturizer that contains HA (Hyaluronic Acid), Antioxidants, peptides, and stem cells to restore dry skin and maintain moisture. Also, Skinceuticals Metacell Renewal B3 is a great option for increasing hydration levels, correcting early signs of photoaging, and lightening dark spots.

Keep Using Sunscreen

As we know, the sun doesn’t shine as bright in the cooler months as it does during the warmer months. But that does not mean you shouldn’t continue to use sunscreen. The use of sunscreen is still an essential step in your routine, even during the fall and winter seasons. The cool weather and gloomy days can fool you, but don’t let it. Harmful UV rays still shine down and can damage the skin. Regular sunscreen use is necessary all year long!

Recommended Sunscreens with high broad spectrum protection are the Revisions Intellishade Clear, an SPF 50 with a built-in moisturizer and oil-free. Our Pure Bliss Rx Sheer Lightweight Sunscreen Broad Spectrum 50 also helps to lighten hyperpigmentation. Lastly, Skinmedica Essential Defense 47, an SPF 47 with full protection.
