Hyaluronic Acid (H.A) is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body which aids in the delivery of nutrients to the skin allowing it to retain its natural moisture and softness. H.A. is produced in our skin and connective tissue. The higher percentage of H.A. molecules per cubic meter of water create a thicker gel or viscosity. Juverderm products vary in concentration of H.A. and the type of cross-linking. Allergans original product of Juvderm Ultra and Juvederm Ultlra Plus set itself apart with the inclusion of hylacross. This means molecules are homologous and more uniform in size allowing for a smoother, less granular consistency. Allergan took things a step up and achieved longer lasting fillers through cross linking, known as vycross. Vycross links high and lower molecular weights. Vycross is an enhancement in technology allowing for greater mobility, decreased swelling, and longer lasting results. Vycross fillers can last 18-24 months. The best part of using a hyaluronic acid based filler is that it plumps the skin by binding to surrounding tissue and absorbing water already in the body to smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm Ultra Plus XC: is used in deeper lines and folds and areas that require more volume such as cheeks, parenthesis lines or “nasolabial folds”, marionette lines, occasionally under eyes, it is the FIRST and ONLY FDA-approved H.A. filler to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds beyond one year.

Juvederm Voluma XC: is used to lift, it is the FIRST and only FDA-approved filler to correct age-related volume loss in the mid face for up to 2 years. It is most commonly used in achieving a lift and contour in the mid-face. Voluma is a deep injection used for cheek augmentation to correct age-related volume deficit in the mid-face. Patients perceived themselves as looking 5 years younger after treatment.

Juvederm Vobella XC: is the FIRST and ONLY FDA-approved filler to increase lip fullness and correct parietal lines for up to a year. This is the thinnest, most spreadable filler great for fine lip lines.
